Divisional Rivalry Showdowns

Week 11 of the NFL season highlighted some of the NFL's greatest rivalries. Starting Thursday night with the Philadelphia Eagles beating the Washington Commanders, 26-18 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa. Eagles quarterback, Jalen Hurts had a terrific game, completing 18 of his 28 passes for 221 yards. Meanwhile, Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels completed 22 of his 32 passes for 191 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Another division rivalry game in this week was the Pittsburgh Steelers beating the Baltimore Ravens, 18-16 at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa. Steelers quarterback, Russell Wilson , completed 23 of his 36 passes, while totaling 205 yards and an interception. Ravens quarterback, Lamar Jackson , completed 16 of his 33 passes. Totaling 207 yards, a touchdown and an interception. 

Offensive favoritism in the NFL

  A concerning tendency in the National Football League (NFL) is the clear preference for certain offenses when it comes to penalty enforcement. This disparity jeopardizes the credibility of the sport, despite the league's efforts to improve viewer’s enjoyment and player safety. Prioritizing offensive performance over defensive play distorts the dynamics of the game and lessens the spirit of competitiveness. The league's extreme protection of quarterbacks and skill position players is at the core of this problem. Although there is no denying the need for player safety, the way penalties are now applied, particularly for roughing the passer, has gotten so bad that defensive players are left feeling restricted. It has evolved from a strategy-based, athletic, and violent game to one that is strongly impacted by subjective officiating, where a defensive player may be penalized for a hit that was previously considered legal. Davante Adams reunites with a former teammate in New York

Former Las Vegas wide receiver, Davantae Adams , has been traded to the New York Jets, in exchange for a 2025 conditional third round draft pick. This sets Adams up to reunite with quarterback, Aaron Rodgers , who was throwing the ball to him during his time with the Green Bay Packers.  Adams has ben looking to leave his team for a while, after requesting a trade from them early October . The six teams that Adams said he preferred getting traded to were the  New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers, and New York Jets.  Adams is expected to make his team debut Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has been recovering from a hamstring injury, which has sidelined him since Week 3 of the season. Pittsburgh Steelers head coach, Mike Tomlin, says the team is approaching the game the same as how they were before the trade happened.  (Video Courtesy: X)

Andy Dalton leads Panthers to their first win of the 2024 season

Carolina Panthers Quarterback, Andy Dalton , led his team to a 36-22 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.  Dalton took over the starting job after head coach, Dave Canales , benched their former number one overall pick Quarterback, Bryce Young. Who started the season off slow, losing his first two starts. Dalton completed 26 of his 37 attempted passes, throwing for three touchdowns and 319 yards. He looks to guide his team to another win next week, when they face the Cincinnati Bengals, who are desperately seeking their first win of the season. 

Jayden Daniels first NFL start

On September 8th, 2024, rookie Quarterback, Jayden Daniels , made his first NFL start for the Washington Commanders against the the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although his team loss, Daniels showed a glimpse of what he could do completing 17 of his 24 passes, totaling 184 yards. He also rushed 16 times for 88 yards and two touchdowns. Daniels next start is September 14, 2024 against the New York Giants, who also loss their first game of the season. This game will be played in the Washington Commanders stadium.
